Hammy on the Wry (classic)

I participated in the hammy events organized by blippytheslug over the weekend. I played it mainly for the ev which was high because of the payout and the softness of the crowd which would consist of non-classic players randomly playing for the ev.

Originally, I wanted to juggle sleep and play. The US event timing was a comfortable 9.30am but there was a very high likelihood that I would not have been able to hang around for the full event since it would stretch till afternoon. With that in mind, I took part in the 2am Euro event.

Lost to affinity i think (relatively bad matchup.. Dredge is another bad matchup)

It's a mirror matchup btw and without a doubt, my list slightly altered at the most.

Managing to win the tournament (my first large event win for classic I would believe)

To dredge (misplay) and mirror (drew badly).
Dredge is probably the only deck that I can still misplay every now and then against in Classic. It's such a hard deck to beat with the weight of eah decision being so heavy.

It seems like many players ran my deck for this event.

Um. Yeah.. Didn't manage to sleep more than 1.5 hrs that night. Tried to enter the classic de the following morning (12.30am Sunday) but saw that there weren't more than 4 people around so I went to sleep without even leaving the tournament. I guess people had their fill of classic this week.

The following day, I woke up early to try to enter the 6.30am de which had a chance to fire but it had a miserable turnup as well so I left the event to continue sleeping. It was a holiday for me that day so I had little reason not to try.

I'm a little pressured to clock as many DEs as possible to maintain my classic poty lead which is greatly limited by the fact that I can only play in one event (sunday 12.30am/1.30am when daylight savings kick in). If the other timings start to fire and I don't get to clock mine, the lead would easily move away since the timings naturally don't suit me given that even the fri morning de is a viable de timeslot for some.

Classic is such a fun and complicated format.

9x IPA sets added straight by wotc, 3 IID draft sets from a bot, and used the largest stored credit in a bot to help pay for a Rishadan Port which I did not own prior to this.

Just sold 9x Invasion and Apocalypse for 144.. but no one wants planeshift?!?!? What's going on?
