This morning, I loaned out my Dreadstill deck to my friend who is one of the best players in my country. I played round 1 for him to a clean 2-0 sweep against mono red as he was on his way back at 2am.
Unfortunately he did not manage to score wins after that. I watched the replays and I realized how Legacy required a level of appreciation before one would be able to play a deck, even more so for an interactive deck.
There is a large number of factors to take into account that cannot be grasped overnight. A good legacy player plays around everything in the format and can prioritize their spell usage to the most relevant threat rather than just the usual skills that are utilized in standard that focus more on efficiency.
For example, good players would actively play around wasteland, daze, B discard spells and bait Force of Wills (which is overcasted in the sense that the spell it is countering does not need to be countered).
Learning how to play Legacy would take a really long length of time.
A high level legacy game is such a fun game.
Perhaps I could write something about that next time.
