Preparing for GP Kyoto: 18th Nov

Friday the team got together to try making 3 decks with 12 packs.
Surprisingly, 12 packs did not produce very impressive pools.
It was quite an eye opener when it came to deck building as you have to really get into the head of your team mate. I hope we get a sick pool and just win.

Anyway, I did a 8 man sealed. It's actually quite good payout-wise with DE payout with 1 less win requirement. I lost 0-2 and got a bye which got me 3 packs.

BUG Landstill 2013 4-0

Today, I brought the below to a 4-0 finish, beating Omniscience, URW delver, Death n taxes and GW (bears and stuff). It's kinda late now so I'll go to bed.

Preparing for GP Kyoto: 10th Nov

Today's sealed was quite tough. I felt that UR would be more stable than WR as it had a pair of the 3/4 fliers at the common slot versus a pair of Silent Artisans. WR felt a little lacking without more heroic enablers.
WU could not get the card count.

Went 2-2.

Legacy - Bug Landstill 2013 1-3

Last night, I got myself the Esper colored Commander 2013 deck (so expensive!!!) for a Toxic Deluge that I wanted to test for GP Kyoto's legacy side events. (I think I need 1 more)

I think I'm a sucker for very good creature removal and Toxic Deluge is premium.
At 3 mana (anti-Teeg) and requiring only a single black mana while being able to clear everything, it is as good as it gets. The biggest drawback is having to pay the life upfront as a counter against it is going to be big. With creature decks being the most problematic decks around, it's as good as it gets.

With Toxic Deluge being part of a deck strategy, I turned my deck into an updated Landstill deck.
As always, I'm running the same few cards with some minor differences and my deck's entirety changes.

I went 1-3 with the deck, lost to Charbelcher, won UWr Counterbalance (a matchup I played so often 2-3 years ago), lost to Ad Nauseum storm and also the GW that the shopowner plays.

I guess that I have to get my full set of FoWs to run this deck properly.

I ran the below 61 card build:

4 Brainstorm
3 Deathrite Shaman
2 Snapcaster Mage
1 Regrowth (which everyone thought was banned)
2 Force of Will
2 Ancestral Vision
2 Standstill
2 Abrupt Decay
1 Maelstrom Pulse
2 Pernicious Deed
3 Jace, the mind sculptor
2 Intuition
1 Life from the Loam
1 Snuff Out (vs Thalia, may need to change)
1 Dismember
2 Spell Pierce
3 Counterspell
1 Bow of Nylea (testing 1x but I probably can't support it at the mana level)
1 Misdirection (replacing Fow spot)
1 Toxic Deluge
1 Vendilion Clique
1 Liliana of the Veil
1 Daze

1 Creeping Tar Pit
4 Polluted Delta
2 Underground Sea (borrowed 1)
2 Tropical Island (borrowed 1)
2 Darkslick Shores
2 Island
1 Forest
1 Swamp
2 Wasteland
1 Thespian Stage
1 Dark Depths
1 Scalding Tarn
1 Misty Rainforest 21
SB
2 Flusterstorm
1 Mindbreak Trap
1 Pernicious Deed
1 Duress
1 Thoughtseize
1 Inquisition of Kozilek (may change to 1 Duress)
2 Cabal Therapy
2 Surgical Extraction
2 Relic of Progenitus
1 Krosan Grip
1 Reverant Silence (brought over from previous lists but the maindeck is good enough so I will swap this out)

Preparing for GP Kyoto: 5th Nov

I just came back from Japan yesterday so I've been out of touch with Magic for slightly over a week.
Going to have to get back into practice gear again.

Today I did a 8-4 draft, secretly hoping to move into blue to complete a circle of colors I've actively drafted.
